Mountain lions are for the most part calm, quiet and elusive. However, it is still possible for a mountain lion to attack when you’re out in the mountains. A 70-year-old man was hiking in Diamond Fork Canyon between 1-3 in the afternoon, when he was abruptly knocked down to the ground by a young mountain lion. He was able to escape by throwing a rock at the animal, which resulted in the animal running away. The man then hiked down and drove himself to a hospital where he was able to get treated. He is said to be in fair condition. Go here for more information on what to do in a situation like this.

John Bolton, who is a potential Republican candidate for the 2024 election, has announced that he wants a deeper connection between the U.S. and Taiwan. This is because of the fact that Taiwan has seen increasingly warnings and threats from China. He discussed how both sides should come up with contingency plans on dealing with actions that Beijing may take, saying it’ll be too late once an attack begins to happen. This situation of the island’s independence looks like it’ll be an important topic to be discussed in the upcoming 2024 election.

FBI searches of US Citizens' Electronic data Plunged Significantly Last Year

Lawmakers and activists have advocated for the F.B.I. to change their data collection practices. (Photo: theconversation.com)

According to an annual report released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, searches of citizens' data through a warrantless surveillance program has drastically decreased by 94%. In 2022 the number of people’s data getting searched was around 204,000, down from 3.4 million in 2021. This follows major reforms by the F.B.I. that lawmakers and civil liberties advocates were calling them out for, stating that the F.B.I. was overreaching and abusing the existing powers.
