Marcus Freeman's Abilities are Questioned After Notre Dame's Defeat Against Louisville

On Saturday, Oct. 7, After crushing No. 10 Notre Dame, 33-20, the No. 25-ranked Louisville Cardinals, in head coach Jeff Brohm's first year, are now 6-0 compared to the Fighting Irish who now sit at 5-2.

In his second season with the Fighting Irish, Freeman’s coaching capabilities have been questioned as he is now 21 games in. He currently occupies the middle ground between the school's greats and its failures with a record of 14-7 and a winning rate of.667, well below the historically great school’s all-time win rate of .730. He's essentially treading water.

Some hypothesize that the issue arises from the transferred Wake Forest quarterback, Sam Hartman. Even though Hartman has accumulated some impressive stats, the Irish offense he is in charge of is sluggish and deficient in big-play ability.

With a game coming up this Saturday, Oct. 14 against the USC Trojans, maybe Freeman can turn things around.
